Flux

Creative Direction / Programming / Production

Built around a theme of life and what lies beyond, music by Gérard Grisey, Pierre Jalbert, Jean Sibelius, Pēteris Vasks and John Luther Adams combined with movement in a bold theatrical performance.

Created in collaboration with Imogen Knight (movement director/artistic director), Maxime Tortelier (conductor), Joshua Pharo (lighting design) and Southbank Sinfonia’s 2019 fellowship, Flux saw a part-memorised performance in which the performers constantly reconfigured, exploring how movement could enhance the emotion and storytelling of the music.

On a high (yet again) from #ConcertLab @SouthbankSinf - if you don’t think classical music is for you, get yourself along to one of these and have your MIND. BLOWN

Beautiful performance #ConcertLab @roundchapel. I usually find orchestras a little oppressive as the music is highly emotive but requires you to remain stiff but this immersive, lyrical and delicate performance really elevated the experience.

Innovative, welcoming and pretty spectacular!

I never usually enjoy this sort of thing but I loved the movement and the immersive nature of the show.

The movement and performance made it so much easier to connect with this music… it was awesome.
